July 23, 1913 to Feb 5, 2010 Brother Badger was one of our founding members of the BMA. He served as its Chairman, pastored the Bethel Church in Leroy, IL and was a mentor to hundreds of campers through the years. He went home to be with the Lord Feb 5th. |

The Rev. W. Bruce Badger, 96, of LeRoy, Ill., passed away at 3:50 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy. Rev. Badger was born July 23, 1913 in Evansville, Ind., to James B. and Ethel Marie Bates Badger. He married Marjorie Helen Hornbeck January 16, 1944, in Bloomington, Ill. She survives in LeRoy. Also surviving are 1 son, James Bruce Badger of Bloomington, Ill.; 4 daughters, Christine Wallach of Ojai, Calif., Anita (Jim) Norton of LeRoy, Ill., Beth Marie Badger of Evansville and Gloria Jan Badger of Ojai, Calif.; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ethel, 1 brother: Bates, and 2 sisters, Barbara and Jane. Rev. Badger came to LeRoy in 1945 and pastored at the Bethel Church in LeRoy for 64 years. He was a member of the Bethel Church, LeRoy and past chairman of the Bethel Ministerial Association, Evansville, Ind., and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Bloomington, Ill. He was a World War II Army veteran. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. Pastor Mark Marshall, Pastor Don Horath and Pastor David Schwambach will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the LeRoy Emergency Ambulance Service, 110 S. East St. LeRoy, IL 61752 or Bethel Youth Camp, c/o Rev. Phil Frye, 705 S. Fair St., Champaign, IL 61821. |
