Rev Eugene Holder
1919 to Sep 22, 2009 Brother Gene Holder was another of our founding members of the BMA. He founded and pastored a Open Bible Tabernacle in Marietta, GA and actually began his own Youth Camp program each summer which ministered to hundreds of young people. Brother Holder's heart was missions. He sent several of his own children to the mission field and hosted an annual mission conference every year in his church. He went home to be with the Lord last September 22nd. |

| Pastor Eugene Holder, age 90, passed from this life into his eternal life on September 22, 2009, at approximately 6:00 PM, at his home in Marietta, Georgia. Pastor Holder was born in Thomas, North Carolina, on March 13, 1919, but was a resident of Cobb County since World War II, when he moved to the county to work at Bell Bomber Aircraft. After the war he continued his residency in Cobb County and developed a construction and real estate business in which he worked for many years. During that time he founded The Open Bible Tabernacle of Marietta, where he was pastor for more than 50 years. He always said that the "sun never sets on the ministry of Open Bible Tabernacle" because the church has been and continues to be involved in missions works through the world--but especially in the country of Mexico. Funeral services for Pastor Holder will be at 6:00 PM, Saturday, September 26th at Open Bible Tabernacle of Marietta, 545 Lorene Drive, Marietta, GA. He will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to the service. Pastor Holder is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lorene Cole Holder, and nine children; Nola Jean Warren, Durango, Mexico, Lorene Pitman, Austell, GA, Carolyn Ayers, Buchanan, GA, Linda Ayers, La Padilla, Mexico; Walter W. Holder, Logansport, IN, Eugene C. Holder, Waxahachie, TX, Rebecca Gaspard, Lockport, LA, Michael T. Holder, Whitesburg, GA, and Faith Fossett, Dallas, GA. He and his wife have 29 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, September 25th at Carmichael Funeral Home, 1130 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA (770) 424-4924 The burial will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 27th, at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated but donations may be made in Pastor Holder's memory to Open Bible Tabernacle, Missions Department, 545 Lorene Drive, Marietta, GA 30008. |
